Network Core Mechanisms of Exponence

Hudson, Richard (2000)

Abstract

Hudson argues that the ineffbility of *I amn't in many varieties of English follows in a morpological Default inheritance network from the fact that this form inherits equally specific information from the entry for am and the entry for aren't which leads to inconsistency.
