Network Core Mechanisms of Exponence

Halle, Morris and Harris, James (2005)

Abstract

This article analyses some cases of ‘affix copy’ in Spanish: that is, cases where a single prefix is realized more than once or in the incorrect position. The proposal is that certain affixes can be copied if more than one appropriate clitic host occurs in the string; the variability of copy leads to the appearance of metathesis.
