Network Core Mechanisms of Exponence

Embick, David [ and Marantz, Alec ] (2008)

Abstract

The authors claim that blocking (in the sense of competition) is limited to the insertion of phonological exponents (VIs in DM) and does not occur between words or phrases. Competition is thus reduced to allomorphy which arises because vocabulary items differ in their specificity.
